neutrons by Mn-55 are not in good shape, especially below about 2 MeV. 56MNBc Above 2 MeV, there are several fairly complete data sets. Below 2 MeV, 56MNCc the data is poor with much scatter among the very few data sets. 56MN c For the intensities of most gamma rays from the capture of 56MNAc thermal neutrons by Mn-55, I adopted 0.93 times those in the 56MNBc evaluation of Huo et al. (1987) [1987Hu04]. Huo et al. (1987) adopted 56MNCc the gamma rays of van Assche et al. (1971) [1971Va01]. From 558 to 56MNDc 1988 keV, they adopted gamma rays from Orphan et al. (1970) 56MNEc [1970Or05], which for 55Mn are 1.161 times those in Rasmussen et al. 56MNFc (1969) [1969Ra10]. Above 2 MeV, Huo et al. (1987) adopted the results 56MNGc of Colenbrander and Kennett (1975) [1975Co05]. 56MN c I added some additional gamma rays to those in Huo et al. 56MNAc (1987). I used the gamma-ray branching ratios in Huo (1992) [1992Hu07] 56MNBc and added three (307, 1096, and 1343 keV) from the decay of the 2580 56MNCc keV level populated by the 4690 keV gamma ray from the capture state. 56MNDc From 1988 to 2090 keV, I adopted the intensities of Delheij et al. 56MNEc (1980) [1980De20], who found that the results from Colenbrander and 56MNFc Kennett at 1988, 2017, and 2024 keV were too high. From 26 to 1915 56MNGc keV, I made some changes and additions to Huo et al (1987) using the 56MNHc only other published results that I found below 2 MeV, Hughes et al. 56MNIc (1966) [1966Hu08] and Dorcioman et al. (1967) [1967Do08]. Their 56MNJc results tended to be higher than those adopted by Huo et al. (1987) 56MNKc from van Assche et al. (1971), and I increased the intensities of 56MNLc several gamma rays adopted by Huo et al. (1987). I also added several 56MNMc gamma rays that were in both Hughes et al. (1966) and Dorcioman et al. 56MNNc (1967). 56MN c I felt that the intensities adopted by Huo et al. (1987) 56MNAc were too high both because the total energy in their adopted data set 56MNBc was 102% of the neutron binding energy and because the intensities for 56MNCc most lines above 2 MeV were higher than those in Mellema and Postma 56MNDc (1970) [1970Me14] in Hughes et al. (1966), and in Alves et al. (1969) 56MNEc [1969Al11]. Huo et al. (1987) tended to high by 1.25 for the 56MNFc highest-energy gamma rays compared to the above three sets of results. 56MNGc However, the high-energy intensities of Huo et al. (1987) were similar 56MNHc to those of Rasmussen et al. (1969). The factor of 0.93 that I used to 56MNIc multiple the intensities of Huo et al. (1987) was a compromise between 56MNJc the 0.80 for most high-energy results and 1.0, and in my final 56MNKc evaluation gave a total energy that was 96% of the neutron binding 56MNLc energy. I feel that many gamma rays below 2 MeV are still missing, 56MNMc such as at 1528 and 1617 keV in a preliminary set of intensities above 56MNNc about 0.9% from J. W. Starner and E. T. Jurney (priv. comm., 1991) 56MNOc [St91PC]. All other of the gamma rays in the Starner and Jurney 56MNPc "short-list" of stronger gamma rays for 55Mn are in my evaluation. 56MN c When the levels for a gamma ray were known, I used the 56MNAc gamma-ray energy calculated using the level energies, with a recoil 56MNBc correction, in Huo (1992). Otherwise, I used the gamma-ray energies in 56MNCc Huo et al. (1987) or those that I adopted above from other sources. 56MN c The electron emission during the decay of the 26 keV level 56MNAc of 56Mn were not included in the gamma-ray evaluation but would bring 56MNBc up the sum into the ground state. 56MN c The energies are probably good to about 0.2 keV for the 56MNAc strongest gamma rays, with larger uncertainties for weaker gamma rays. 56MNBc The intensities are estimated to be good to about 10% for the stronger 56MNCc transitions above 2 MeV, with larger uncertainties for the weaker 56MNDc gamma rays and lower gamma-ray energies. The adopted set is fairly 56MNEc complete but is missing some gamma rays as indicated by the fact that 56MNFc the sums of gamma rays into and out of many levels are not in good 56MNGc agreement. 56MN
